Bowie, Maryland - May 31, 2002 - 7:05 PM - An unprecedented collection of Negro Leagues Baseball trading cards and memorabilia will be unveiled at Prince Georges Stadium as the Bowie Baysox, the Baltimore Orioles AA affiliate, celebrate their tenth anniversary.  Fifteen Negro Leagues Veterans will join Trading Faces, a Silver Spring, Maryland based trading card company, in presenting the Negro Leagues Baseball Living Legends Program, the Signature Series One Trading Card Collection and their official website http://www.nlblivinglegends.com.

The NLB LL Program introduces fifty-nine Negro Leagues Veterans and will mark the first time that a collection of personally autographed trading cards was ever assembled and offered online.

“This collection is incredibly unique,” said Jim Burgess, NLB Living Legends Program Director,  “because it offers everyone an opportunity to look into the faces of baseball history and acquire an understanding; an appreciation for the personal sacrifice that collectively made a profound contribution to this great nation.”

The official website of the NLB LL Program is http://www.nlblivinglegends.com.  It provides the multimedia support necessary to present the Living Legends personal history and Negro Leagues Baseball experience and also facilitate a secure ecommerce environment.  The homepage currently displays an in depth explanation of the program and products and will be opened to reveal the content in it’s entirety on May 31, 2002.

April 27, 2002 - NLB Living Legends join Partners With Youth Sports Foundation in New York

NLB Living Legends Al Burrows, Gordon “Hoppy” Hopkins, Jim Robinson, and Pedro Sierra were all present to join the Partners with Youth Sports Foundation, President David Trimble in support of the little league baseball program at Jefferson Park in Harlem, New York City.  This was the first opportunity to bring the “Right Decisions – Right Now” baseball camp campaign to New York City and turned out to be a great success. Valuable group instruction coupled with one on one personal interaction made it possible to share baseball fun with some simple decision making thoughts. Rusty Torres (ex- New York Yankee) was there to share his baseball and expertise as well. “The children were fabulous,” said NLB Living Legend Program Director Jim Burgess.  “They notably displayed a love for baseball, but they showed just as much interest in the message that the foundation had brought them.”  In all, the day could not have been any better.
