Grandvue Productions CEO, John Borst has had an interest in creating documentary films for many years. His presentation on roller coaster thrills aired on the Discovery Channel in 2002. In the summer of 2003, John caught wind of the Legends of the Negro Leagues effort to present their Living Legends and Baseball in Living Color trading card programs. After meeting with the program's founder and director, John packed his bags and his cameras and saw firsthand how the road to fulfilling the LNL-BLC Program was traveled.
