Personally Autographed Boxed Trading Card Sets

(Only 600 - Available)

001 of 600

Our first collection offered to the public contains 60 cards (1 roster & 54 personally autographed* Negro Leagues Baseball Veterans) presented within a handcrafted BLC Logo branded 11"x11" box wrapped in faux leather. Certificate of Authenticity is presented within a very special Baseball in Living Color storybook photo presentation.

001 of 600 also includes one of the first five inaugural 10-year commemorative rings made (size 13), an un-cut foil stamped press-sheet autographed by Pedro Sierra - BLC's first NLB Living Legend, an 8x12 Senior Line-up photo presentation, and a Congressional Resolution document.

*In several cases, the NLB Living Legend appearing on the trading card had either perished or had become physically incapable of personally autographing their cards - in these instances, a foil stamped version of the Legends autograph, created during the printing process, was inserted in its place. Therefore the total number of personal autographs contained within the 600 collections range from a high of 54 in the earlier numbered sets to a low of 49 in the latter.

BLC 10 Year Anniversary Ring

This commemorative ring was co-designed by Baseball in Living Color President, Jim Burgess and ex-Major League Baseball player, international baseball coach and jewelry designer/manufacturer Larry Olenberger. It is made of rhodium-plated sterling silver and holds two black onyx and four cubic zirconium stones. It features our Baseball in Living Color logo [displaying patriotism within 5 stars (one for each decade touched by Negro Leagues Baseball), (uniform) pin-stripes and baseball laces] on one side of the ring and a tribute to our 59 participating Negro Leagues Baseball Veterans on the other.

$275 Each - shipping included

Uncut Press Sheets

1) un-cut press sheet ($75.00 - shipping included)

Digitized Signature Series trading cards were downloaded to a computer software program at PBM Graphics in Durham, NC to arrange the cards on a large 28” x 40” template. Press Plates were created from this file and were hung on a large printing press. The press was fed 14 pt. trading card stock (28” x 40” press sheets) on which the cards were printed. Upon completion, we pulled our first set of un-cut press sheets - a little more than 1000 sheets. These full size sheets display a complete collection of the trading cards along with the calibration color bars. (About 1000 similar sheets were taken straight to the cutters to be cut down to trading cards that were subsequently carried across the country to the homes of our NLB Living Legends for autographing).

2) un-cut press sheets with foil stamped signatures (Not for sale)

The remaining press sheets were carted to another press where they were stamped revealing our NLB Living Legends signatures in black foil. As this process came to a conclusion we pulled an additional 1000 sheets. These full size press sheets display all of the cards with black foil signatures stamped on them and the calibration color bars.

3) poster-cut press sheets with foil stamped signatures. (Not for sale)

The remaining press sheets were on there way to the cutter to be transformed into cards. After the color bars were trimmed off the sheets, we pulled another 1000 sheets (just before being chopped down to individual cards). These press sheets are slightly smaller than the others - a modified version of the full press sheet to offer a cleaner poster-like presentation of the entire collection.

BLC PHOTOS

The photograph that we offer is completely original. It is a meaningful compilation of pictures that offers great insight to Negro Leagues Baseball and the men that fill our program roster.

"Senior Line-up"
$25.00 per Print

The men that appear in this picture are some of our programs oldest members. Their careers spanned from mid 1920’s through mid 1940’s. Their effort in the early days of the Negro Leagues established a venue to which younger men of color could aspire. Rickwood Field (in the background) is the oldest active ball field in America and is located in Birmingham, Alabama. This field was in fact a “Field of Dreams” for the men whose dreams of playing professional baseball were fulfilled by reaching the roster of the segregated ball clubs that played here. The baseball cards that fill the skyline represent the remaining men of our program - each of whom shares a significant part in Negro Leagues Baseball’s monumental effort to integrate Major League Baseball.
